A Vin de Table Gamay Nouveau from the Ardèche, not Beaujolais; on general list at the LCBO for $8.95. Traditional natural cork closure. 12.5% alc./vol.
Deep, vibrant purple-ruby colour. Forward, banana-bubblegummy / tutti-frutti nose (almost reminiscent of my homemade dry Concord...). Dry, balanced, light texture. The rainbow flavours continue onto the palate from the nose. Pleasantly dry on the mid-palate, with gentle acidity and a light, but warm, texture. Not much in the way of tannin or length.
A simple, albeit decent and acceptable wine, that would work well with pizza, wings, or some other simple snacks.
