WTN: 1995 Fattoria di Felsina Fontalloro

(Castelnuova Berardenga, Toscana, Italia) I.G.T. Primarily Sangiovese. Imported by Vinafera Imports, Ltd., Ronkonkoma, NY. 13% abv.
Dark purple color; opaque. Medium to full-bodied. Purple fruit suggestions--plum or prune. Secondary characteristics of autumn leaves. Stood up to stuffed green peppers with a tomato sauce.

That's a surprisingly lukewarm view of what can be a great Tuscan. I may have a bottle of the 1995 and, if so, I 'll get it out soon to see how it compares to yours.

I'm generally a big fan of Fontalloro, though I haven't had the '95 in a long time. I believe it's actually all Sangiovese. I think the vineyard straddles Classico and another Chianti subsection, so they choose to make it an IGT.
