2009 Heger Merdinger Bühl Spätburgunder QbA Trocken –Baden, Germany 13,5% alc.
Very pretty strawberry and raspberry fruit, autumnally fragrant, pure, juicy, soft, supple and silky textured. Straightforward and yummy.
2009 Müller-Catoir Herzog Spätburgunder –Pfalz, Germany 13,5%
I really enjoy the Haardt Spätburgunder that M-C released earlier in the year, but the Herzog is much the superior. Plenty of structure and more extract with dark fruit of Black Cherry, Cassis, and black walnut. Tarragon, Charcoal, Cola(?) Tobacco and Chicory. Drier and cooler than Oregon, but in that direction. Very nice.
Cheers,
Bill
