Tried last night w/ my salad:
1. Ch. de Monterminod AC: Roussette de Savoie (MeBalP; 12.5%; 100% Altesse; www.BondImports.com) DomainePerrier/LesMarches 2007: Med.gold color; lovely strong honeyed/honeysuckle/floral very perfumed/aromatic slight mineral/chalky nose; tart quite mineral/chalky fairly rich/full-bodied floral/honeyed/spicy/cinammon apple/pear/spicy flavor; long tart/lean/metallic/tangy strong chalky/mineral fairly floral/honey/spicy pears finish; a crisp/bracing/tangy/chalky Savoie w/ lots of flavor & richness; very interesting and quite lovely. Fairly priced at $26.00(BWM)

2. Semplicemente Ulivi Vino Bellotti Rosso Biodinamico/Naturale/Autentico (Triple "A"; Demeter; 13.5%; 70% Barbera/30% Dolcetto) Terranera/Nori Ligure/Piedmonte 2020: Very dark color; strong grapey/earthy/dusty somewhat unclean/goat pen/horsey/manure bit late harvesty/plummy/boysenberry big fruit complex (??) nose; quite unclean/bretty/goat pen/horsey/manure bit tannic/bitey soft some grapey/plummy/earthy flavor; med.long unclean/fecal/goat pen/Utter's out house some grapey/plummy/boysenberry/Dolcetto bit tannic/hard/bitey earthy/horsey quite rustic finish; lots of grapey character but quite unclean/fecal/goat pen character; interesting wine in a bizarre sort of way and probably good w/ offal. $19.00 (LM)

And the ole BloodyPulpit:
1. Altesse: Also known as Roussette. Seems unique to the Savoie. Probably indigeneous to Savoie, though, where all the great grapes evolved. Some same it looks exactly like Furmint. May look like it...but probably no relation. Furmint is the most tannic of the white grapes, but this wine showed no tannins to speak of. Roussette is a synomyn for Roussanne in the Rhone, but has not relationship to Roussette of the Savoie.

2. Semplicemente: Since this was a Louis/Dressner wine and had all the right buzz-words on the label; I was not expecting much in the way of a pleasurable wine...which it delivered in spades. Truly a "medditiatizonne" wine. This is a wine I'm certain sweet Alice would love. My descriptors are not very complimentary but the wine was not that bad...just too unclean to be pleasurable. It brought back fond memories of the night my older brother tipped over the Utter's outhouse w/ Richard sitting inside. Man...was he steamed. There was hell to pay the next day. Fun times. But you had to have been there. Interesting wine along the Coturri line, but not something I would serve my friends...that I wanted to keep. A wine only for the adventurous who want to discover what all the buzz about natural and authentic wines is. If you worship at the holy grail of "terroir", than this wine's for you.
