WTN: nice Sonoma pinot

by Tom N. » Sun Oct 30, 2011 11:14 pm

Medium to dark ruby. Quite dark for a pinot. Deep expressive nose of bacon, toast and cherry. Luscious midpalate with black cherry, juicy acidity and smooth tannins. Medium finish of acidic morello cherries.

With food: Fabulous match with grilled salmon smotherd in butter sauteed mushrooms.

Wine: 2008 Sebastiani pinot noir, Sonoma Coast, $19.95 CAN$

I think Mark Lyon does a fabulous job at Sebastiana. Thanks for the review, Tom - I'll look for this wine.

Hi Jon,

I agree, this is a good QPR pinot from California. Anytime I can get a really tasty pinot for less than $20, I am happy.

This sounds great and I plan on having salmon for dinner so I definitely will have to try.

Sampled an excellent Sebastiani Dry Creek Zin a month ago. Retails at $24 but I've seen it under $20.

Welcome to WLDG Crissie,

Glad to have you here. Salmon and pinot usually pair well and when you add sauteed mushrooms, it is even better. Hope you have a good match for dinner.
