14.5% abv
Dark purple/scarlet color; dense and opaque. Shows viscosity. Nose of candied red licorice and red currant is mirrored on the palate with the addition of dried cherries and mild spices. I found it to be more approachable than some notes on Cellar Tracker indicated. Some soft tannins on the finish, especially if a mouthful is held for awhile before swallowing. Modern style of California Cabernet Sauvignon from a good terroir. I would rate as outstanding. First of three bottles. I will probably open one in 2013 and one in 2015.

Hi Jane, sounds like a nice Cab. I'll keep an eye out for it. I PM's you a few weeks ago about a Pinot Noir you posted on but you must not have seen it. If you see any Calistoga Cellars Napa Cabs. they are quite nice for $20. The 2007's and 2009's are the ones I have tried. The 2009 is really ready to go, moreso than the 2007's.

Jim, I didn't get your Private Message. I will look for your suggestion on Calistoga Cellars. Artesa makes a reaonably priced California Cabernet Sauvignon that I like and also I like the Rubicon Estate Niebaum-Coppola Cabernet Sauvignon Cask which retails in the low $40's in California and maybe a little more in the rest of the country.
