2006 Calendal Philippe Cambie Cotes du Rhone

I opened this bottle on Thursday and as it was a little shut down, I recorked and left it on the counter. Yesterday, Friday, I drove to Ocean City and back to pull the boat for the season. Left at 5AM and returned at 3:30PM and revisited the Calendal….WOW! This wine had opened to reveal beautiful, silky blackberry and dark cherry flavors with hints of herbs on the nose and palate, lavender and violet, licorice, dark loamy soil and dark chocolate. Very rich with ample fine grain tannins with a long, lingering finish. No heat detected from the 15.5% alc/vol. Really nice! $17 by the case.
