Vin de Pays de l’Hérault
Midi

A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (80 per cent) and the remainder an unknown (to me) grands cepages.

Decanted for about two hours.

Cherry red, with some browing at the rim.

Wood, very smoky, black olives, lavender, floral, earthy on the nose.

Medium weight, cherry, raspberry, smoky, high acidity, forest floor, rich, warming.

With time, the wine became tangier and somewhat more drying.

Mushroom, earthy, black olives, raspberry on the long finish.

A wine that, for some reason, reminded me of fall and quite fitting for a crisp and cool fall evening.

Purchased at (approx.) $40 (Canadian).
