1995 Chateau St. Jean Cinq Cepage (Cabernet Sauvignon)
This is the vintage just prior to Wine Spectator anointing its' successor as "wine of the year" or some such silliness.
The tannins on this have pretty much resolved and it probably was at peak a couple of years ago. That said, it was still very enjoyable and holding up quite nicely for a 16 year old California Cabernet blend. The color is still vibrant and the dark cherry fruit is holding up quite well. Not overly complex but there were hints of leather, cigar and a touch of mintiness.
Drink 'em if you got 'em.
