13.5% alcohol. Imported by De Maison Selections, Inc., Chapel Hill, NC. Paid $20.99. From Mencia grapes grown on granitic soil. Fermented in stainless steel and bottled unfiltered. Dark purple, opaque, viscous. A hint of Concord grapes in the aroma. Blueberries on the palate. A focused central flavor note that persists giving the wine a lingering presence. Juicy and enjoyable. Paired well with braised beef and Yukon gold potatoes in red wine reduction. One website suggests trying Mencia wines with roasted meats including venison, dried meats and hard cheeses.
