I found this wine while doing an inventory on Saturday - it didn't appear on my spreadsheet, so it was a nice surprise.
At first, I thought it had expired, because on the initial sniff, there was nothing, and when I tasted it, it was all acid. But I poured a glass anyway, and once it woke up and stretched out, it really blossomed.
In typical Lane Tanner style, the wine is light to medium weight, very smooth on the palate, silky to me. Not a tightly structured wine, it instead meanders this way and that, filling the mouth with bright, tart cherry flavor. There is an underlying mineral-iness, and hints of some oak, which serve as condiment to the pretty pinot fruit.
I think PN lovers who shy away from the bigger, brawnier versions on the market might really enjoy this one.
This wine served as a nice foil to a tri tip and avocado sandwich.
