WTN: 2010 Clos Roche Blanche L'Arpent Rouge

by Rahsaan » Sat Oct 08, 2011 7:42 am

This is the cheapest (although not by much, let's be clear) and most life-affirming wine I've had in a while. Especially when slightly chilled.

Overall, not a bad combination.

Just how much did you pay to get your life affirmed?

Just under $20 including tax.

It is indeed awesome.

Have you had the 2010 Pif or Gamay yet?

No. They used to have the Pif here at PJs but when I went yesterday they only had the Arpent Rouge left. I actually don't drink that much CRB, they often get lost in the shuffle. But everytime I have one I get motivated to have more.

Chambers had a bunch recently, will apparently be getting some more in.

Hi Rahsaan -

Thank you for the great note. I enjoy the Clos Roche Blanche wines as well, but haven't had any 2010s yet; not even their Sauvignon. Will definitely keep an eye out!

It's quite the wine, especially the nose. Mine didn't survive the evening.

I know, I know. Didn't you save some for the next day?

Most definitely not. I rarely do that with red wine on purpose, and definitely not this fragile stuff.

I don't find CRB quite *that* fragile - and recollect from my experience with both the 2010 Arpent Rouge, Pif and Gamay that all of them actually got better the following day, when the fruit seemed even brighter and purer. (Just stuck a cork back in each one, and either put them in the fridge or on the kitchen counter without any adverse effects.)

Interesting. I was mainly thinking of the Pineau d'Aunis as fragile. Of all their cuvees I would expect the Cot to be the most robust. But I rarely do these multiple day tastings.

That's cause you're a drinker not a taster.

Well to tell you the truth, I'm a bit of both, with as many anal wine geeky habits as the next WLDG poster. But in recent years I just don't find the tasting information from keeping bottles over several days to be very delicious/interesting/useful. For the most part.
