WTN:Hinterland Sparkling Rose 2008

by Bruce Hayes » Wed Oct 05, 2011 8:47 am

Prince Edward County (Ontario)
A 90-10 blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.

Lovely copper-salmon hue in the glass.

Good mousse, lots of fine bubbles.

Fresh, doughy, bready on the nose.

Medium weight, crisp, clean, good acidity, strawberry, cherry, light lemon, very clean, peppery citrus peel, light bready notes.

With time, it became quite citrusy, with the lemon dominating.

Mouthwatering, citrus rind on the finish.

Purchased from a restaurant wine list.

Sounds good. A friend of mine is opening a winery nearby and is going to make a small batch (400 bottles) of Blanc des Noir and I was discussing it with him last week. Do you recall how the bottle was finished - real cork?, plastic cork? crown cap?
Chico - Hey! This Bottle is empty!
Groucho - That's because it's dry Champagne.
