Navarro proprietor Deborah Cahn says the Hungry Hollow wines are wine lots that are good but didn't quite fit into the Navarro blends. The winery used to sell off such wines in bulk.

Could be promising, I am on a buying pause, but otherwise would absolutely pick up the three-pack sampler with 1-cent shipping.
In that same Mercury News article, Santa Cruz's Mount Eden is doing something similar with a "second wine" brand, though at a higher price point.
