WTN: '06 Groom Barossa Shiraz

2006 Groom, Barossa Valley, Shiraz (gift from a very nice benefactor). Alcohol level 14.3% which is low by today’s standards. It has nice fruit including plum and dark berries on the nose and upfront. In the middle you get brambly hints of anise, peppers, blackberries and a slight dash of vanilla. The tannins are as smooth as a baby’s bum at this point of development. Great finish!

We matched it with tenderloin steak, seared and roasted 10 minutes at 400 degrees F; baby Yukon Golds roasted with bacon fat and sliced Brandywine tomatoes from the garden. Wonderful Saturday night!
