1988 Pape Clement

A little tight at first with the fruit reticent and dominated by tannic/acid structure, but with some air it really unfolds to show a core of dark fruited flavours framed by classic Graves smoke and tobacco flavours, cedar and savoury earth. Still quite youthful with a sense of real freshness and brightness to the flavours, drinking nicely with some air but has plenty of time ahead. Lovely wine that I'm glad I own more of.

Haven't been on the forum for a long time but this '88 and for that matter most '88 wines have that type of profile. I like them but I also like '75s
