09 Reynvaan vs. 08 Reynvaan Syrahs

by Jenise » Wed Sep 28, 2011 4:36 pm

In another thread we were discussing cool vs. warm vintages of Reynvaan syrahs. I'd tasted and loved the 08, Salil had tasted and not been so impressed with an 07. I suggested the difference might be the vintage, as 07 was especially warm and 08 especially cool. So where did 09 fall, we wondered. Well, I have that information. And where I don't know about The Contender, where the 08 Unnamed and In The Rocks were 13.5 and 14.2 respectively, the 09's are 14.5 and 14.7. Definitely warmer, as I thought.

Also learned that they now have but a single estate vineyard, and it's called In The Rocks. The person I spoke to at the winery this morning couldn't explain how the other wines were separated out from that, or if they were from purchased grapes, but did offer that they have another estate vineyard they'll be introducing wine from in the near future called Foothills of the Sun.
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov
