Interesting Wine Writing..MikeStepanovich

by TomHill » Wed Sep 28, 2011 3:52 pm

Mike Stepanovich is a wine writer very few folks have heard of. Small wonder...he writes for local publications in....gasp....Bakersfield. Some of his writings can be found:

Mike grew up in PasoRobles. I knew him some 20 yrs ago because his daughter lived here in LosAlamos and was good friends of my daughter. Back when they were....gack...teenage girls!!!
We met just once...up on the deck of the SkiHill...over a btl of one of the first wines, purchased grapes, from what eventually became TablasCreek. The wine, unlike the company, was not very good. Unlike what they do now.
Anyway, I got the link above recently when I reconnected w/ Mike. He seems pretty good at sniffing out some pretty obscure wineries. The article on GeorgeBursick was particularly good on a winemaker who should be better known.
Anywho...thought I might share his writings with some of you.
