...thank you garagiste

by Tom V » Tue Sep 27, 2011 1:59 pm

Perfect! I get to test out the "days in the decanter" thing with the 2009 FINCA LA CUESTA Luna Beberide that I ordered from Garagiste the other day! Here is a wine that reputedly

" blossoms over 2-3 days in a decanter and
goes from delicious to almost outrageous as a mélange of spice, violet, forest and
mineral-tastic ember-like notes melt into each other as they vie for your attention..."

But then, I wonder, did Josh Reynolds of the Tanzer's IWC let this sit in a decanter for 3 days before he wrote this...

" Smoky, floral aromas of
black raspberry and violet are enlivened by a zesty mineral nuance. Elegant, focused flavors
of sweet dark berries, candied flowers and spicecake are supported by silky tannins. Finishes
racy and long, with lingering smokiness. 90pts”

I'm betting he didn't, but then, should he have? Would I really prefer an "outrageous melange of spice, violet , forest and mineral-tasting ember-like notes" which melt in my mouth to "elegant focused flavors of sweet dark berries, candied flowers and spicecake supported by silky tanins"? Decisions, decisions!

I await the delivery, and my subsequent enlightenment.

3 days in the decanter is how long it takes for John Rimmerman to dream up his smoky, violet tinged prose!

Well put David; effusive, the man is simply extraordinarily effusive.

Well, yes, sometimes I suppose. I can't deny it. Then again Dale, is anyone on this site completely immune to vinous purple prose?...whether it be Parker's, or Meadows', or some winemaker's, or whoever's? Comes with the turf. In this case however, purely a matter of seeing what's in that decanter after 3 days!
