Tried this as a mystery wine in my tasting Wed:
1. MonsoonVlly Wine of Thailand Blended RW (Pokdum + Shiraz; 12.5%) SiamWnry/ChaoPrataDelta/SamutSakhoy/Thailand 2006: Med.light color; rather grapey/fruity/spicy somewhat earthy/dusty pleasant enough nose; soft bit tannic/bitey pleasant/grapey/fruity/spicy slightly dilute/watery flavor; med.short soft/light/bit tannic simple/grapey/fruity/spicy bit dilute finish; tastes like a MerlotLite more than anything; not a bargin at $13.50

A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. Who'd have thunk...a Thai wine!! Found this on my last foray at CortiBros and simply could not resist. Made from the indigenous Pok Dum (Black Queen) w/ a bit of Shiraz blended in. I must admit the wine was much better than I expected; resembled a light Merlot more than anything, but nothing I'd run out and buy again. But I felt obligated to take one for the team. Supposedly they can get two crops of grapes a year in Thailand for this wine. Made by Frenchman Laurent Metge-Toppin. Still have the Mangosteen dessert wine to try.
