WTN: Donnhoff Kupfergrube

2004 Dönnhoff Schloßböckelheimer Kupfergrube Riesling Spätlese (Germany, Nahe)
From the glacial cellar there is barely a whiff of development to this wine. It's still a very pale yellow, and smells of ripe peach and faint cherry with rusty mineral aspects in the background. The youthful sweetness has backed off a bit (turned out to be not quite sweet enough for our Thai curry), and it just rolls across the palate until it leaves a bracing hit of acid at the end that refreshes the palate and demands another sip. Lovely.

Sounds great. I remember that wine was quite tremendous on release and one of the bottles (along with the 04 Felsenberg) that got me hooked on Donnhoff.

David - Thank you for the great note. I enjoyed one of these a few years back, but have not had one recently. Glad to hear that it is coming along nicely.
