Tried this at a BD lunch a few weeks ago at CafeRouge:
1. EdmundsStJohn Rocks&Gravel UntiVnyd/DryCreekVlly (13.1%; 40% Syrah/39% Grenache/21% Nourvedre; Vinified in concrete) P&B by the Skin of our Teeth/Alameda 2010: Med.dark color; fairly strong fruity/grapey blackberry/strawberry slight earthy pleasant nose; bit tart lean tannic/hard some blackberry/cherry/strawberry/Syrah bit earthy rather taut/wirey/tight flavor; long grapey/fruity/blackberry/strawberry/Syrah slight earthy tight/wirey tart/lean bit tannic finish; attractive/pleasant but the best days are to come.

A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. I thought this to be a pretty typical young R&G wine. An attractive wine, but just that. They are never very impressive to me upon release (this wine to be released soon). But they have this uncanny knack, a few yrs down the road w/ some age on them, of rising up and biting you on the a$$ they're so good. This wine has the balance and structure to it that I have little doubt that I'll be prying its fangs from my left cheek and uttering the classic EdmundsStJohn lament:"I shoulda bought more at this great price".
