Not much sleep Sat night- I awoke at 2, and never went back to sleep. Neighbors lost trees (in correct direction- not on our house!), but I never actually lost power, just up monitoring sump pump and trying to figure out best operating spot for generator (rain was pounding porch I was planning on). But by 11 AM it looked pretty clear, though streets were blocked, neighboring street lost power, and my pump was working overtime.
Betsy's sister invited us for post-Irene dinner, so we lunched on duck legs we had planned for dinner and spent day on cleanup. I chose a couple of bottles to take to dinner, and had Betsy use a red sharpie to add the needed "I" to the Bordeaux.

Double decanted before we went over. Sweet 2000 fruit, black currant and plum, a little mocha, herbs. Pretty more than powerful. Actually went ok with mild cheese quesadillas. B
Dinner was somewhat Mexican themed, a spiced tilapia, corn/avocado salad, yellow rice, etc. I had carried a bottle fo Lauer Barrel X, but instead we went with a white Cal had opened, the 2009 Terredora di Paolo Falanghina. Floral nose, citrus and apple fruit, medium body, low to medium acids, just a hint of sugar. B-
