2009 Cusumano Nero D’Avola ($9.95 NH Liq Store). Alcohol level: 14%. It is a very nice value with quite a bit of bang for the buck. It almost smells like gin on the nose, but gives you characteristic black cherry and strawberry syrup on the palate with a very full body, and a refreshing finish.

We matched it with charcoal and mesquite grilled rib eye steak with blue cheese; corn-on-the-cob and sliced heirloom tomato. Had to put the charcoal out with water and the grill covered, and utility bin brought inside before Irene came to visit.

Carl, I have found some of their wines to be a tad "new world". Seems this might be truer to form but the syrup?
