SonomaCoastVnyds Syrah SonomaCoast (14.56%; ClaryRanch&HummingbirdHillVnyd; Clone 1,174,887; Hrvstd: 10/16-11/7; 50% new Fr.oak for 19 months; 395 cs; TA: 0.669; www.SonomaCoastVineyards.com) JohnDrady/TonyAustin, Sebastapol 2003: Very dark/black color w/ no bricking; slight reduced/WWII beacon/ozone/pungent quite spicy/cracked black pepper/white pepper/roasted/pungent very strong blackberry/Syrah slight Rhonish beautiful complex nose; fairly tart (ClaryRanch signature) pungent/cold-climate/cracked black pepper very strong spicy/blackberry/Syrah some toasty/charred/oak very complex balanced slight tannic flavor; very long/lingering very spicy/cracked black pepper/pungent very strong blackberry/spicy/Syrah/cola bit tannic complex finish; should go another 4-6 yrs but in a really beautiful place right now; lovely classic cold-climate Syrah w/ great peppery character.
