Wineries in Atlantic Canada

by Bruce Hayes » Fri Aug 05, 2011 10:30 am

My wife and I are planning a two week driving vacation In September (leaving Aug. 29) to the Atlantic provinces of New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia.

I know this area, particularly Nova Scotia, has a number of wineries, a few fairly well regarded and, of course, I plan on visiting as many as I can. I have a couple of guide books and Canadian winery magazine guides to refer to, but was wondering if anyone out there might have any personal recommendations to make. I understand that many/most wineries produce wine from hybrids grapes, so was thinking perhaps Howie or Paul B. might chime in.

Thanks.

I have not had any wines from the area. However, I also frequent a website similar to here, but the focus is on wine making and grape growing, both amateur and small commercial. At least one of the members there runs a small winery, I believe in Nova Scotia. I will look into it and see what I can find.
EDIT: This was the only worthwhile thread I could find: http://www.winepress.us/forums/index.php?/topic/36061-nova-scotia-wineries/page__p__367879
Chico - Hey! This Bottle is empty!
Groucho - That's because it's dry Champagne.

You should. They stayed at our B&B a few times, and we got to know them well. Also my brother Peter Eppig who is a wino too, has a summer place up there, and knows them as well. Use either name or both.
