Deep purple red. Voluptuous nose of rich plummy black raspberries with notes of moist earth and epoisses cheese. A seamless midpalate of sweet dark fruit, lovely acidity, and smooth, sweet tannins. Great balance. Long, luxurious finish of black cherries and a touch of tannin.
With food: good with slow and low roasted beef. Excellent with the mushrooms, celery and onions from the roast pan. The mushrooms add another layer of flavor to the wine as they bring out some earthiness on the midpalate along with more tannic grip.
Wine: Domaine Des Grands Chemins, 2006, Crozes Hermitage, Delas 12.5% abv. I wish I had more in my cellar
