Quite deep red, still with a slight purple edge. Nice, quite deep nose dominated by herbs and berries plus a touch of animality starting to show. There are also green notes of bell pepper and a slight metallic touch in the background. On the palate the taste is dominated by the nice, fresh acidity giving an initial juicy impression. The green, herbal notes grow and give a more rough impression, but with a good, chewable mouthfeel. Not too much tannins, but those that are there are nicely fine grained. There is a nice, long aftertaste with good intensity and the initial juiciness comes back to give a fresh final impression. Good to find that it has not suffered from the heat of the vintage. A really pleasant wine, which was a gift from our friends Hillary and Julian in Bretagne, to whom we send our gratitude.
