Local winestore downtown recently held a Canada Day winetasting and I volunteered to help out. Monies raised were donated to the inner-city schools lunch program, a group I am very much involved with, running outings etc.
Creekside is a new name to me but I really enjoyed their Riesling ($19). Good value, nice summer sipper, off-dry. The `08 Cabernet had 2% Cab Franc, subtle tannins, plum, smoke, medium- bodied. $20 a bottle, would be great for restaurants by the glass program.
Norman Hardie is striving to produce a burgundy-esk Chardonnay ($38) but I am no expert and found the nose way too funky...all smoke and rubber. People buy this style? The Pinot Noir was quite tasty but again quite highly priced ($40).
Have to put in a quick plug here for Gray Monk who as usual turn out some excellent Pinot Gris from the Okanagan. Blew away most of the whites being poured!
