Need assistaince with arranging visits to Burgundy Domaines

by Michael K » Tue Jul 05, 2011 5:15 pm

I will be visiting Burgundy between Monday July 18th and Wednesday July 20th. It has been a trip that we have been looking forward to for a long time. While i have a few appointments, I am in desparate need to fill out my days there (not that spending it in Dijon is bad either but it was suppose to have been a wine tour). Can anyone please provide me with information on which wineries I can visit and if you have contact information as well? If the information is sensitive, please do not hesitate to email it to me. at engineer8 at gmail dot com. I have always known that getting visits would be difficult, but I've never has so many people turn me down so much. Hopefully with two weeks to go this will all get changed around!

Many thanks for all of your help in advance!

Burgundy, at least my experience, requires little introductions. That is the fun part about visiting France. If you have a few appointments that is fine, and will anchor your visit, but believe me, you will be glad you have time to stop here or there as you find almost every door open (sometimes with a knock). they may be busy and ask you to return, or simply stop what they are doing, and open a few bottles for you. Please report back on your trip and experiences. I wish I were going with you. This is one of my favorite regions. BTW, if you get a chance, get down to Santenay and try Les Terroirs for lunch, on the village square. I had nice visits with Francois Clair and Lucien Muzard. Gives you a perspective on the Cote d'Or, as this is (almost) the southern most village. then you can head back north. The little village of Gamay in and intro to St. Aubin. There is a little shop there with a good selection of local wines. Then on past Beaune into the Cote d'Nuits. Enjoy!

I have two annual French wine guides, RVF's Les Meilleurs Vins de France and Bettane/Desseauve's Le Grand Guide des Vins de France. They are full of information; far too much to attach to scan and attach to an Email. Even if you don't read French, it would be worth acquiring one of these through Amazon.fr . Meanwhile, if you let me know which estates interest you, I can look them up and provide contact details, if they are amongst those reviewed by the guides.

Many thanks Tim. I was fortunate enough to be able to hook up with American-living-my-dream Alex Gambal and he has been a world of help for me. Looking forward to meeting him!!!
