I recently picked up a bottle of 2009 Laugel "Cuvee Michel Leon" at Trader Joe's for $14 and am very glad I did. I rarely shop there but thought I'd try a single bottle of this. It was NOT great but it had such excellent acidity with medium-full spicey flavors and a bit of rose petal also that I knew immediately that I'd be back for a case. I had never heard of this producer and it would not be confused with a grand cru Alsatian from the likes of Weinbach/Z-H/Deiss/Mann etc. but for an everyday go-to Gewurztraminer that beats almost all non-Alsatians, it is a wine I will enjoy having around. If they make any high-end Gewurztraminers I'd like to try them too. Abv of %13.
