2007 Chateau Montelena Cabernet Sauvignon Estate
A little high brow for burgers on the grill, but what the heck, it's a holiday weekend. This is tighter than recent vintages were on release, with better acid structure and a stronger tannic presence. So it's not as immediately forward/enjoyable (though there is plenty of fruit), but it seems properly balanced for aging, where the 2004-2006 editions were much more approachable in their youth.

You could always put some truffles on the burgers. Or is the wrong season for that. Perhaps using Kobe beef.

But things were probably just fine as you had them!
