Another treat for the wine interested English couple that is visit in us (cf. yesterday's post about a 2000 Château-Chalon)
Good, intense, still predominantly red cölour.
A wonderfully intense, remarkably floral scent that totally screams of Graillot. The fresh flowers, which makes one think of the scent that emerges from a recently opened door to a flower shop, the black pepper and the sausage/bacon-like smokiness of making wine are just unmistakable. The flavour is markedly acid-driven with a delicious pepperiness and marked, dry tannins. A significantly long, peppery, almost perfumed floral aftertaste gives a delicious, albeit well-sour impression. Works great to a chicken with a creamy mushroom sauce with a hint of lemon in it, but the acidity gets a little too dominant when you drink it on its own. As so often before the wines from Graillot surprise you by preserving the youthful and aromatic style, even in this case after 13 years of maturation.
Cheers,
Anders
