WTN: Neyers Syrah Cuvee d'Honneur '03...(short/boring)

Grilled veggies, lots of copter traffic, lots of smoke, and:
1. Neyers Syrah Cuvee d'Honneur HudsonVnyd/NapaVlly (14.4%) 2003: Dark color w/ slight bricking; lovely strong blackberry/Syrah/blueberry some smokey/roasted/Rhonish/bacon fat slight earthy/green olive complex nose; fairly tart strong green olive/Rhonish/smokey strong blackberry/Syrah/blueberry bit tannic light toasty/oak rather complex flavor; very long/lingering green olive/Rhonish/smokey/roasted strong blackberry/Syrah/blueberry complex somewhat tannic finish; still needs 2-5 yrs; a really lovely mature complex Calif Syrah but may not get much better.

1. The pre-Ojai Rose '10 really hit the spot afore this more serious wine. The wine was pretty much dead & gone when I tried it this morning; no fruit, lots of tannins.
Pretty surreal sitting out on Susan's back patio and watching the mountains 30 miles away across the valley. Long orange glow across the CerroGrande ridge leading up to the PajaritoMtn ski hill. Stream of headlights going up/down CampMay Rd as fire fighting efforts continue. Weather calm and headway being made. Now at 70,000 acres burned. Not out of the woods yet, but things looking promising that we escape serious damage. Did I mention there's smoke everywhere??
