Together with the 2002 Dickerson, the best zins at the Ravenswood zin tasting late last August. Good enough for me to buy a bottle. Quite dry and spicy. The high alcohol (14.9%) unbalances it. The fruit is very ripe. Tannins are dusty and fine-grained. This has a long, drying finish. 30 minutes airing gives a muted chocolate character to this.
I remember liking it much better during the tasting. Still, a good wine, alcohol aside, and probably capable of a bit more aging. I still have 2/3 of the bottle left. Maybe a few days in the ref will improve it.
