WTN: 2007 Quinta do Valdoeiro Bairrada, Vinhos Messias.

VM is a very dependable wine producer and has a nice range of reds for around $24 Cdn. This red is a blend of Syrah, Baga, Cab Sauv and Touriga Nacional. 14% alc, opened and decanted for an hour, no sediment noted.

The color is a medium garnet, on the nose some oak, blueberry (lots), cherry, dark black fruits. "Black currant" from across the table.
Medium tannins, tad ripe, cherry and berry flavors. "Strong Syrah influence here" from in-house PO!
Good fruity balance, might be "new worldish" for some but think drinks nicely right now.
Usually my Portuguese reds are produced from local grape varieties but quite liked this, especially when slightly chilled.
