WTN: 2003 Chateau Reignac Bordeaux Superieur

From 375. 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Sauvignon.
Completely youthful in appearance, black purple/garnet. Nose leaps from the bottle upon opening, black fruit, cigar box and violets. Black fruit, currant, dark cherry, kirsh with dark chocolate and mineral notes. Just a touch of heat mid palate and a nice, linguring finish. Nice wine for a tough vintage. 13.5% Alc/vol.

Nice to hear of a good 2003. I was definitely scared of the vintage when it was released but it's hard to imagine there wouldn't be some good wines made. And it will be interesting to see how they evolve in the future (although perhaps not this particular wine, maybe not destined for a 30 year life span).

So do you think it was too early to drink it?

I found it very enjoyable and would think, in this format, and given it's structure, that it has some years ahead.
