Washington White Wine Question?

by Jim Grow » Thu Jun 09, 2011 4:04 pm

I have been reading Paul Gregutt's excellent wine book, Washington Wines & Wineries, for the umpteenth time and noticed that there was a listing for best producers for the Siegerrebe grape, which I love for its weirdness, but no mention anywhere in the book about the Scheurebe grape, which I also love. It seems strange that no one in Wash. state grows and makes wine from this varietal. Is this an oversite in the book or is this a grape that does not grow well in Wash. state (not very likely)?

Hmmm. I've had Scheurebe from WA. Also Huxelrebe. Maybe Paul just didn't think it was worthy of mention.
