WTN:Viña Borgia Garnacha 2009

Robin reported favorably on this wine some years ago, maybe 10 or so years? I must admit that for some years now I haven't visited some of the wines I had been drinking back then, but I found this wine in a three liter box at $17.95 which is $4.50 per bottle. I took a chance on it and on a really nondescript Washington Riesling. Suffice it to say that the Borgia will be a re-buy while it will likely be the 5th of never before I try the Riesling again. (Washington Hills). As I said Robin reported favorably on the Borgia back then and his words are no less true today than they were then. it is a medium dark wine with red fruit and a touch of spice on the nose. The palate shows the typical raspberry of Grenache and perhaps a little black pepper. The surprising thing to me was the flavors linger on the back of the tongue for several seconds, which of course induces another sip. This tinto went well with fried chicken, coleslaw and potato salad for dinner last night.
