Appellation Bordeaux Contrôlée: mainly Cabernet and Merlot; vine age ~35 years; solid, long, high-quality natural cork closure; 12.5% alc./vol. $13.95 at Vintages. Won Gold at the 2010 Concours Général Agricole in Paris.
Dark, clear ruby-garnet colour; very pretty saturation, though still fully translucent. Appetizing red-fruit- and licorice-tinged, spicy nose. Tart on the entry, with tannins immediately active on the fore-palate. The tannins take over early, producing a grippy palate-feel, with great balance and dryness. Medium-bodied and very taut. Great structure and composure. Warming on the aft-palate, with a clean and grippy texture all throughout the tasting profile. A food wine through and through.
