WTN: Brauneberger Juffer Riesling Spätlese 1999

by Bruce Hayes » Fri May 27, 2011 9:51 am

MSR
Weingut Max Ferd. Richter

Rich yellow, with green tints, in the glass.

Strong petrol at first, later revealing, honey and a creamy texture on the nose.

Medium weight, petrol, honey, floral, lightly tangy green apple, peach, a hint of grapefruit, quite juicy, very complex, quite rich, almost creamy, oily, good acidity to keep everything clean.

Honey, floral, spicy and mouthwatering on the long finish.

An absolute delight and, in these days of heavyweight wines, this weighs in at an astounding 7.5 per cent abv. Consumed on the back deck with a homemade chicken salad.

Purchased at $19.80 (Canadian).
