Don't see the Hirsch wines very often out here in Cowtown, so I picked this one up on a lark today and thought I'd give it a try. $28, 12% alcohol.

Very pale straw color. Zippy nose of minerals and citrus blossoms. In the mouth, you get chalkiness at the front of the tongue combined with a more lush and full sensation at the back. There's a bit of tingly spritz in the first glass that dissipates over time. Very fresh and alive, you get flavors of lemon oil and peach to go with the firm minerality. It's labeled trocken but I have to think there's a touch of perceptible RS in it to account for slight tinge of oiliness. Fairly intense lingering citrusy-chalky finish.

Very nice stuff that went well with a supper of roast chicken and leftover mushroom bread pudding. There's a lovely balance here that I think will improve with some time. Good stuff.

I imagine you're writing about the Austrian Hirsch. Usually a reliable producer with good wines as a rule. Hey Austrian wines are not really stocked too well almost anyplace in CA.

It is indeed the Austrian Hirsch. Good point about Austrians not getting much shelf space here.
