WTN: 1999 Bollinger "Grande Année" Brut Champagne

by Drew Hall » Fri May 20, 2011 5:27 am

Our small family gathered last Sunday to celebrate my birthday (which was the prior Wendsday). Not many wine drinkers but my Sister and brother in law, my wife and I indulged in this Champagne. Very rich but light on the palate with concentrated citrus, apple and brioche, no, more like rich scone, flavors. Creamy in the mouth, but not heavy, with a long, linguring finish. My only nit was that I felt it needed a little more "lift" of effervescence. A very nice treat.

Sounds tasty.

Bollinger tends to make a richer, heavier style, so not surpising that you might wish for a little more of something to brighten it up a bit.
