WTN: Alamos Malbec 2009

by Bruce Hayes » Thu May 19, 2011 8:27 pm

Mendoza
Catena Zapata

Dark purple in the glass.

Very smoky, roasted, rich berry fruit on the nose.

Quite mouthfilling, very juicy, black cherry, blueberry, spicy, a little drying, bacon fat, good acidity, lightly roasted, soft in the mouth. Something here reminds me of South African Pinotage (which I enjoy) but I am unable to identify what exactly..

Drying, smoky on the finish.

A good bottle.

Purchased at $13.95 (Canadian).

I do enjoy Malbecs from Alamos. The one you mentioned is an easy one to recommend to others. There reserve (about $6 more) is really something to try
