Good Northern Rhone Syrah, but nothing stunning. It has a bright streak of acid that keeps it fresh and very food friendly. Lots of red fruit, but little in the way of real depth. I prefer the 2007 (not shocking) and look for ward to the 2009. I enjoyed htis bottle with dinner, but would not load up on it.

Where was Salil?

Thanks for the note. 2009 is such a good year in the Rhone I wonder how anyone could make "meh" wine.
Yes, and how many deaths will it take 'til he knows
That too many people have died?
The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind
The answer is blowin' in the wind.

Or by making "meh" wines like they did in other "good" years like 2007 and 2005.

These were my exact thoughts on this wine.

As it happens, I'm drinking a 2007 Fauterie Les Combaud St. Joseph with dinner tonight and it's pretty delicious. Ripe juicy and fresh, an easy combination.

2007 Gonon is anything but meh. I love that wine.

That Fauterie SJ is really, really good. Right up there with the 07 Gonon for my tastes.

Thanks for the note on the Gonon, passed on it earlier (the good folks at CSW suggested I try the 08 Barou SJ instead, which was fantastic at a few $ less) but glad to know it's enjoyable.
