To the Riesling gurus: how long does this bottling last?

To the Riesling gurus, but others welcome: how long does Selbach-Oster's Kabinett Halbtrocken usually last? I'm contemplating some 2009 for the cellar. Thanks!

Yes, that's right. After posting I searched and found that (1) you are a big fan of this wine vintage in-and-out, and (2) you have had the 2009. Like to venture a guess on aging window? The price is right and I like the idea of being able to cellar a dry-ish white for once.

With all my focus on vintages in France, I have not really given attention to the fact that what is probably the best value country on the planet has had one hell of a decade . . . . should have bought more 2001s, but I didn't know that back then.

How close to dry does this bottling usually behave?

With a meal it is essentially a dry wine. Yes there is a touch of sweetness, but it's only in soft years (e.g. 2003, 2005) that it's particularly noticeable.

I think this is one of the greatest wines you can buy for drinking with meals over the summer. I prefer it over Muscadet for its more apparent fruit while still having more than its fair share of minerality.

Thanks very much David for answers so far! While we're on the subject of Selbach-Oster, how sweet is the Anrecht bottling? It isn't a Pradikat, but I got the impression that it was somewhere up in Auslese territory.

The 2009 Anrecht is a Spatlese in mouth feel, and an Auslese in sweetness, but only in the context of Selbach, who normally steer to a little drier than many of their cohorts. So I think it really works as a slightly big Spatlese.

Now I gots to get me some of that.
