2010 Müller-Catoir Haardt Riesling Kabinett Trocken –Pfalz, Germany 12,5%
MC released a few of their 2010s yesterday. I'd been anxiously waiting. Man! Here’s hoping this wine is a sign of good things to come. The dominant fruit here is certainly pineapple and it is a thrill-ride all the way through with Panang curry, Bamboo shoots, Apple cidre, spearmint and a chewy leesiness that is pulled through an exceptionally long finish. Fresh as hell -as the CO2 broke, the wine became noticeably denser and fruitier- but still showing a fine hand and stark ’10 acidity. But this is not flowery, or pretty, or feminine. It is a sparks and grease and danger and broken bones Kabinett if ever I have tasted one. Yes!
Next up is the '10 Muskateller with Spargel.
Cheers,
Bill
