Whatever happened to Thomas? As I recall, at one time he was a prolific and valuable contributor to this forum?

I believe he felt that his ability to contribute here was inconsistent with his ability to be a wine critic. I am probably not doing his reasoning justice. I know he continues to lurk. He was a very interesting person and I had a lot of great email conversations with him.

I think he needed to devote more time to writing. I had a very nice lunch with him and his wife at Glenora Winery while driving down to PauloCOOL.

Thomas very occasionally weighs in on http://www.wines.com. He avoids the confrontational forums/fora but is probably not posting much anywhere because of the reason James cited and also health issues which may have reduced his drinking wine.

Just to say that I am still alive--and reasonably well, considering that Monday is my last day of radiation for prostate cancer! Silly me; I thought wine was health food...

Thanks to all on this bb for the well wishes (and the private emails), and thanks to the NY Wine and Grape Foundation for the recognition. My Google Alert sent me to this post, Howie.
