WTN: 2007 Martin Ray "Stags Leap" Cabernet Sauvignon

Maybe the big mistake was we popped and poured?

HUGE wine...label read 14.8% abv but I wouldn't be surprised if it was really in the mid-15% range. Plenty of big, big cassis and licorice fruit, some tannins, a touch of acid, but geez that alcohol and fruit extraction! I usually associate Stag's Leap with a certain delicacy or red fruit character...not here. The extraction was such that while there was the pretty 2007 fruit, it was a little overwhelming here.

Not my style of wine, really, but the person I tried it with loved it, and it did make a nice drink as a "cocktail".
