2008 Rhys Pinot Noir Bearwallow Vineyard (USA, California, North Coast, Anderson Valley)
Opened and consumed without extended aeration - there's plenty of fruit, and also a stern, tannic backbone that kicks in on the finish. It's not all that well integrated right now, sort of like two wines in one - showy fruit up front and an austere, completely different creature on the back end. Since it has more than adequate fruit I will give it a good bit of time to integrate.
